چکیده

DHA-1 is an inducible plasmid-mediated AmpC b-lactamase whose emergence raises concerns because the mortality of patients infected with organisms that produce DHA-1 has been shown to be higher than that of patients infected with organisms that produce CMY-1. In conclusion, we have demonstrated that plasmid-mediated AmpC b-lactamases have emerged in Switzerland. The prevalence of 0.16% is still low. However, the occurrence of DHA-1, an inducible type of enzyme, raises clinical concerns. Additionally, a novel plasmid-mediated AmpC b-lactamase, which was designated CMY-31, was found.

Prevalence of Macrolide-Lincosamide-Streptogramin B (MLSB) Resistance in S. aureus Isolated from Patients in Tehran, Iran

Background and Objectives: Staphylococcus aureus is an important cause of nosocomial and community-acquired infections in every region of the world. Clindamycin is one of the alternative agents used to treat S. aureus infections and accurate identification of clindamycin resistance is important to prevent therapeutic failure. Unfortunately, inducible clindamycin resistance is ...

Prevalence of erm Gene among Clinical Isolates of Staphylococcus aureus in Shahrekord, Iran

Background: Development of drug resistance to Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) has led to the use of older antibiotics such as macrolide-lincosamide-streptogramin B (MLSB) for the treatment of infections. MLSB resistance can be caused by several mechanisms, however, one of the predominant reasons is target modification mediated by erm gene...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of macrolide resistance among Staphylococcus aureus isolates in Isfahan, Iran

Background and Objectives Macrolide, lincosamide and streptogramin B (MLS B) are noteworthy antibiotics for the treatment of Staphylococcus aureus infections. The purpose of this study, was to determine the phenotypic and genotypic characterization of macrolide resistance, among S. aureus, isolated from clinical samples and nasal swabs. Materials and Methods Totally, 162 non-duplicate S. aure...

Phenotypic and genotypic study of macrolide, lincosamide and streptogramin B (MLSB) resistance in clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus in Tehran, Iran

BACKGROUND Resistance to antimicrobial agents among Staphylococcus aureus is an increasing problem. Two common genes responsible for resistance to macrolide, lincosamide and streptogramin B (MLSB) antibiotics are the ermA and ermC genes. Three resistance phenotypes have been detected to these antibiotics: strains containing cMLSB (constitutive MLSB) and iMLSB (inducible MLSB), which are resista...

Phenotypic characterization of nosocomial isolates of Staphylococcus aureus with reference to MRSA.

BACKGROUND Apart from being a major cause of mortality, nosocomial infections due to Staphylococcus aureus have been imposing a burden on patients, hospitals and health care systems. The present study was designed to determine the prevalence of methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA) among nosocomial isolates along with their phenotypic characterization. METHODOLOGY MRSA and methicillin sensit...
